A donation page has been set up to commemorate a teenager who died at a Halloween party in Edinburgh.

Maya Nager (19) collapsed at the Electronic Music Festival in Terminal 5 on Saturday night (October 31) and was taken to the capital's Royal Hospital for treatment.

But despite all efforts to save his life, doctors declared the young man dead on Monday morning.

Hours before the dance event at the Royal Highlands Center in Ingleston, Maya reportedly took the drug.

A donation page has now been set up in memory of the teenager, allowing people to donate to two charities close to their hearts.

A description on the page reads: "We appreciate everyone's support and concern and know that many people would like to do something to remember Maya, so we have chosen two charities to represent the work they do." got excited.

"During the lockdown, Maya volunteered for a local project to make food parcels for homeless people housed in hotels during Covid - she loved the work and her colleagues and so we decided to support the homeless project in Scotland .

“It's a different organization he volunteers for, but it will still be close to his heart.

"Maya absolutely loved animals and always had a dog and a few ducks to hunt...so we chose the SDSPC as another charity."

The Scottish police have now launched an investigation into the cause of Maya's death.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: At around 7pm on Saturday 29 October 2022 we received reports of a 19-year-old woman feeling unwell at an event in the Ingleston area of Edinburgh.

He was taken to the Royal Edinburgh Infirmary for treatment but sadly passed away on Monday 31 October 2022.

"Investigations are currently being conducted to clarify all the circumstances of the accident," he added.

A spokesperson for Terminal V said: “We are absolutely devastated by this news and offer our deepest condolences to the family. We continue to support the police in their investigations."

Billed as Scotland's biggest electronic music festival, Terminal V Halloween 2022 has been given the green light despite concerns from police following previous incidents which led to drug addiction and hospitalisations.

The Noon to Night Terminal V festival was first held in 2017 at the Royal Highland Center and initially attracted around 5,000 people.

Despite hundreds of drug arrests at previous events, nearly 20,000 dance fans attended last Saturday's Halloween event.

At a meeting of Edinburgh City Council's Licensing Committee last month, police raised safety concerns after three priests from a previous event were revealed to be in a medically induced coma.

Speaking at the council meeting, PC Greg Stephen said police had serious safety concerns after a series of drug incidents in the past at Terminal V which led to a number of hospital admissions and festival-goers being treated in intensive care units.

"At every previous event at Terminal V, significant quantities of controlled drugs have been confiscated from event sponsors and there have been serious medical incidents as a result of drug abuse," he said.

Claire Miller, the council's chief public safety officer, called it the "most serious incident" her department had ever dealt with.
