Janet Slack, an innovative Hong Kong music producer, label manager and DJ, died on November 13, 2022 at the age of 42.

Known for his high-intensity mix, electrifying stage performances and friendly personality, Arrow rose to fame on the runways of some of the world's most legendary venues, such as London's Martel Park.

According to Clockenflap, an outdoor music festival in Hong Kong where he performed, he was in demand for "generous and thrilling" marathon sessions at private island parties and luxury cruises.

In an industry dominated by men, she made a breakthrough for female DJs around the world.

She is the first woman to win the highly competitive Denon Djest in London and has won other competitions including the Pink Armada European Female DJ Competition. He appeared as himself in the 2013 British film About Time , directed by Richard Curtis.

In a Facebook post announcing her death, her brother Trevor Slack said, "She was more than a sister, daughter and friend. She was the light and soul of the house."

The family have requested privacy at this time to help them deal with their loss.

Eurasian, Slack developed an early taste for performing while growing up in Hong Kong in the 1990s. In a 2012 interview with The Post, she recalled dancing on stage with Cantopop singer Sandy Lam Ik-lin in 1991 at the age of 10.

As a young woman, she left Hong Kong for London, where she worked her way through the city's club scene in the 00s. This led to a residency at Europe's biggest fetish club, Torture Garden, which later propelled him to international fame and formed the basis of his first full-length album.

In 2014, Slack returned to Hong Kong, where he became a mainstay of the burgeoning global music scene, continuing to tour the world and perform at clubs, warehouse parties and raves. Throughout this time, he also ran his own electronic music label called Slack Trax.

Often seen in BDSM-inspired latex outfits and theatrical hair extensions, Arrow is known to carry himself with great confidence wherever he goes. She spoke out against racism and sexism in the industry and rejected requests from booking agents who wanted to exploit her ethnicity and appearance.

In a 2015 interview, he told the Post, "Sometimes they'll want a 'response photo' and I'll tell them to get rid of it. It's amazing what's going on...I'm going to be deliberately provocative to organize concerts.

His music also defied categories. Drawing sounds from a variety of electronic riffs, house, g-funk and rock, he is recognized as the leader of the Asian dance music scene into the future.

English DJ and producer Crafty Coates wrote on Facebook: "He was an amazing DJ, producer and teacher, full of energy and happiness. I booked him for my club nights in London and he always rocked the party ."

Karl Loben, editor of DJ magazine, also paid tribute on Facebook. "He was such a positive spirit with uplifting energy, a great DJ, great producer, teacher and just a lovely person."

Funeral and memorial days will be announced later.
