Oppo Is First To Announce A Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Phone, With A Whole Lot Of Collaborative Swagger

Qualcomm held its annual press conference in Hawaii to announce its new flagship mobile SoC, this time the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and as usual at such events, at least one guest proudly touted it. the first to work with a phone with this chip. Oppo played VIP at this year's Snapdragon Summit, and the company did more than yell "go ahead" before leaving the room.

Of course, we couldn't forget the title of this announcement: the company that follows Find X5 Pro this year will actually be "one of the first" to introduce Qualcomm's latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform. Given that the list of the best smartphones is a relatively small list of the entire ecosystem, this still does not mean anything. This is highly debatable when you remember that OSOM failed to port its Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 product in time after it boasted its first version.

More importantly, the Chinese manufacturing giant says it is working with Qualcomm to develop hardware drivers for ray tracing (ARM led the latest development in mobile earlier this year). Buyers of next generation phones will notice more realistic and detailed lights, shadows and reflections when games are actively loaded at 60 frames per second. Core Compute will achieve this performance while reducing the workload by 90% compared to the previous implementation.

It also gave chip makers and Google a testbed to find the Vertex AI neural architecture, making it much easier to model machine learning and implement the models on phones, tablets, and the like. The company said Oppo's optimizations have reduced processing latency by 40% and power consumption by 27% while meeting algorithmic goals.

All of these topics of discussion - and we won't go into them - contribute to the low hype around Qualcomm's new high-end product and serve to spread the Oppo name. despite the fact that there is no real impact on hundreds of millions of potential consumers.
