Infinix GT 10 Pro Review: A Blisteringly Fast Gaming Smartphone With Striking Design

Gaming smartphones can cost as much as flagship phones. However, Infinix is poised to change that picture with the launch of the GT 10 Pro, a mid-range phone unlike any other on the market. Besides the strong specs, the Infinix GT 10 Pro also has a stunning design inspired by the Nothing Phone 2. I have been using the Infinix GT 10 Pro for a week now and here is my review.

Climbing experience

Over the years, the smartphone unboxing experience has been tainted by brands including the phone and the charging cable, mostly in the name of durability. Infinix, on the other hand, goes the other way and offers the best smartphone boxing experience in 2023.

The box includes the phone, soft case, charger and data cable. Although it comes with a soft screen protector, the retail package includes an additional thermal glass. In addition, the company is offering the first 5,000 users a gaming set with free shoulder triggers and non-slip thumb pads. The packaging process was not only satisfactory, but also ensured that users received all the necessary accessories in the box.

Bright design, good display

The Mirage Silver (Cyber Mecha Design) variant I received for review has a very cool design and the panel changes color from white to pink when exposed to UV sunlight. Additionally, the mini LEDs on the back act as notification lights and can be synced to music.

The smartphone features a large 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and an in-display fingerprint sensor. This flat screen has similar top and bottom bezels to the OnePlus Nord 3 and Poco F5, which makes the phone more premium.

The screen can accurately reproduce 10-bit color with accurate color rendering and is HDR 10 compatible with Widevine L1 certification, with support for streaming FHD content through platforms such as Prime Video and Netflix. The screen appears bright and vibrant in both indoor and outdoor lighting conditions.

Average camera performance

The Infinix GT 10 Pro sports a triple camera setup with a 108MP main camera that supports up to 4K video recording and does all the heavy lifting, while the additional 2MP depth sensors and macro lens are of little use. Similarly, the 32MP selfie camera supports up to 1080p video recording, and like most of Infinix's recent smartphones, the GT 10 Pro has LEDs on the front to help with low-light selfies.

The cameras are the weakest link in this well-executed package. In natural light conditions, the phone takes good photos. However, in low light conditions, most images appear noisy and blurry even if you turn on the night mode.

Here are some never-before-seen samples of the Infinix GT 10 Pro camera.

Games performance

The Infinix GT 10 Pro has hardware and software that make it the best gaming device under Rs 20,000. In my tests, the Dimensity 8050 paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage scored over 600,000 on AnTuTu and also in our COD: Mobile and BGMI tests, the device performed well with a gaming experience at 60 fps even with high graphics settings.

It is also the only Infinix smartphone equipped with virus-free XOS based on Android 13. However, it only receives the original Android OS update. One of the main issues I've noticed with the GT 10 Pro is related to notifications when the phone doesn't show certain notifications while watching a video or using an app. Likewise, I've noticed that the phone slows down a bit when multitasking.

Battery life and connectivity

The Infinix GT 10 Pro is equipped with a 5000mAh battery with USB Type-C port for 45W fast charging, which can fully charge the battery in one hour. The phone averaged 5-6 hours of screen on time and the battery drained about 10% overnight.

I tested the Infinix GT 10 Pro with Jio 5G network and had no issues with mobile reception or download speed. The sound quality is also on par with other phones in this segment.

Should you buy the Infinix GT 10 Pro?

Infinix GT 10 Pro is very good. From the unique design to the incredible hardware, this phone is for you. However, based on my experience with the phone, I felt that despite its experience with virus-free software, the company needed to optimize the software for better multitasking. Overall, for the asking price, the Infinix GT 10 Pro is definitely one of the best phones under Rs 20,000.
