If there's one thing about Realme phones that remains the same across their portfolio, it's the convenience they offer. Realme 11 Pro Plus is no exception, as it combines comfort with premium design. At Rs 27,999, it stands out as the slimmest phone in its class in my opinion.
The Realme 11 Pro Plus comes with features like a 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED display, 200MP camera, 100W fast charging and more. However, it is important to note that impressive specifications on paper do not always reflect the actual experience of the software. Here's what you need to know about the Realme 11 Pro Plus before you buy it.
Realme 11 Pro Plus: good
Realme 11 Pro Plus is the best mid-range smartphone. None of the Pixel 7a, Poco F5, iQOO Neo 7 Pro, Vivo V27 Pro and others come close. This is due to the vegan leather back designed in collaboration with the famous ex-Gucci designer Matteo Minotto. Smartphone manufacturers are constantly collaborating with designers, but it's this clean and elegant design that sets the Realme 11 Pro Plus apart from the competition, especially in Sunrise Beige.
The device is comfortable to hold thanks to the curved edges and light weight (189 g). It weighs less (183 grams) in the Astral Black color variant as it lacks the leather found in Sunrise Beige and Oasis Green. However, you don't get any Gorilla Glass protection on the front as it's covered with "dual tempered glass". In two weeks of use, I dropped it a few times (accidentally, of course) and it stayed safe and sound.
Realme 11 Pro Plus has a 6.7-inch OLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution (2412 x 1080 pixels). The screen is slightly curved on the sides which is good for the look and doesn't look like ghost keys. It's bright enough to view comfortably in direct sunlight, and it's a joy to watch videos. However, unlike its Xiaomi and Poco counterparts, this one does not support Dolby Vision. The speakers are good with Dolby Atmos support.
The new Realme phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset, paired with 8GB/12GB RAM and 128GB/256GB storage. It works well in everyday life with no UI lags or stutters. Browsing Twitter, Chrome and Instagram, multitasking between productivity apps like Asana, Teams and Slack was no problem. However, if you want to play games for a long time, this phone is not for you, then you better check out the new iQOO Neo 7 Pro.
Realme 11 Pro Plus has a 5000 mAh battery that supports 100 W fast charging. It is enough for the whole day if you are not an active user. I love that my phone can go from 10% to full in 30 minutes.
The Realme 11 Pro Plus has a 200MP main camera that supports 2x and 4x sensor zoom, which Realme calls "lossless". It's not an optical zoom, but better than a digital zoom. This mostly makes up for the lack of a telephoto lens, but don't expect the zoom to be as good as specialized telephoto lenses. The main camera takes good photos with good detail in daylight.
Despite the fast shutter speed, I often encountered blurry objects. Sometimes it clicks well on moving objects, but sometimes I get an image with blurry faces. Dynamic range is excellent most of the time, but again I took shots in the sky where the background was washed out. However, the Realme 11 Pro Plus mostly takes great photos. As for the 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, it's serviceable.
Realme 11 Pro Plus: not so good
The only annoying part of the Realme 11 Pro Plus is the software. Realme UI 4.0 runs on Android 13 and is fast for the most part. But not as clean as I want. You need to be tech savvy to use this phone comfortably, otherwise you will be bombarded with unwanted notifications.
When I set up a new phone, I go into my accounts and let it update and install all my apps, which takes a few minutes. In the meantime, keep your phone busy. On the Realme 11 Pro Plus, after I finished, I noticed notifications from apps I wasn't interacting with. This includes the App Market, Game Center, etc. Additionally, there are preloaded folders like Hot Apps and Hot Games with random app suggestions. Plus, you get a lot of preloaded apps that some people might like, but not me.
All of them can be disabled or removed with just a few clicks, so you shouldn't have any problems if you know how to get rid of them. But this can be a problem for people who are not tech-savvy and just want the phone to work for them.
Should you buy the Realme 11 Pro Plus?
Rs 27,999 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant and Rs 29,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB variant are good prices for the Realme 11 Pro Plus. You get a great design, a great screen and performance, an all-day battery with fast charging, and a good camera for the most part. If you know how to turn off notifications and uninstall apps, the Realme 11 Pro Plus is a good choice.
