Milan Fashion Week opens 2024 with men's fashion brands and billionaires. Even though she was only three days old this week, she's already wowed the fashion world with knitwear, statement coats and a slew of celebrities descending on the Italian city for the Autumn/Winter 2024 collection shows.
Gucci kicked off the week with a fashion show featuring trendy monogram bags, uniform dresses and nods to the brand's past, be they leather jackets, work shirts or patterned sweaters.
Meanwhile, Dsquared2 wowed with its eye-catching show, showcasing rock star style and oversized hats alongside traditional knitwear, leather jackets and denim.
One of the highlights of fashion week is the discovery of new brands. One of the new brands is ViaPiave33, founded by brothers Francesca and Alessandro Spaggiari together with Elisa Bettella and inspired by a philosophy of understated luxury with a sustainable focus (many of their products are made from organic animal carcasses). The brand offers minimalist outerwear, activewear and knitwear, as well as home accessories and skincare products.
Meanwhile, Stone Island presented its first fashion show for its slightly Berlin-inspired collection of metallic jackets, held against a techno backdrop in a huge warehouse in Milan. Their logo is beautiful: it features a cross in the shape of a North Star surrounded by a circle with their brand name. Written on a rectangular black label that adorns the thigh side of his metallic silver trousers, it reflects his sense of adventure and wanderlust.
The founder of MSGM Massimo Giorgetti presented his new collection at the metro station (Porta Venezia stop). The collection pays homage to the hero of Milanese urban planning, Franco Albini, the architect who designed Milan's M1 metro line, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. The collection is predominantly red, with abstract shapes reminiscent of the modular shape of the Milan subway.
The Jordanluca brand offers cropped sweaters, oversized sweatshirts and a fusion of British and Italian style and culture after the brand was co-founded by British designers Jordan Bowen and Italian Luca Marchetto. The starting point of the collection was the balloons draped over all the seats of the show, which gave the show a festive atmosphere.
The Fendi collection is elegant and timeless as the new collection includes knit tops, fur coats and skirts, giving a modern twist to classic pieces. Sitting in the front row at the show were guests such as Marco Mengoni, Winston Duke and Kit Harington.
There are many celebrities, especially around K-pop stars. The front row at Gucci is always impressive, with Idris Elba, Marc Fornè, Mayao, George Barnett, Nikolai von Bismarck and Clement Chabernaud.
Jeff Bezos was spotted at the Dolce&Gabbana party with his girlfriend Lauren Sanchez, while K-pop singer Tael was spotted at the K-Way fashion show.
Some events featured many famous guests, including singers Aespa Karina, Win Metawin, IU, Jay Park and Gulf Kanawut, and attracted fans outside the event.
The best of Milanese street style still includes long plaid coats, puffer jackets and trendy sweaters. And as always when it comes to street style, the ones who stand out the most are the ones who appear to be themselves. Check out Milan's street style looks below.
