Huawei Flagship Store / UNStudio

The living forest of harmony. Inspired by nature and Huawei's "Harmony" operating system, the geometry of the two-story Huawei Taiku Li flagship store is based on biophilic forms that flow seamlessly from the outside to the inside.

To reduce environmental damage and extend the life of the building, high-performance, certified and recycled materials are used in the exterior and interior of the store. Mobile prefabricated systems are used for floors and roofs. The entire store uses advanced ventilation systems and real-time monitoring to ensure high indoor air quality and increased greenery, creating a comfortable environment for customers and visitors.

The design refers to the dynamics of repeated growth of natural structures and reflects the repeated algorithm of Huawei's Polar code technology. Petal-shaped elements appear on the facade in different stages of growth, varying in size and rotation, creating a holistic geometric system that connects the brand with nature and technology.

Repeated petal facade. The main facade of the flagship store serves as a symbolic gateway to Taiqu Li, Qiantan. In addition to the choice of colors and materials, the unfolded arrangement also creates a distinct personality and an attractive gesture for visitors.

Petal legs hide structural glazing lamps, creating a frameless glass facade that maximizes visibility and allows natural light to penetrate deep into the store. In the evening, light elements integrated into the edges of the petals illuminate the facade with soft light and activate the facade.

The south-facing facade features a floor-to-ceiling expanse of glass that blurs the line between the store's interior and exterior public space. Inside the glass showcase, seating elements and indoor and outdoor greenery combine more harmoniously.

Inside. The main element, the spiral-shaped "Tree of Harmony", continues the aesthetic of the store's exterior. This element, which is also visible from the outside, anchors the main entrance area and acts as a traffic generator inside and outside. Additionally, it provides vertical circulation and directs pedestrian flow from the main atrium to the second floor staircase. This tree-like feature aims to enable an interactive AR experience: visitors can sensually experience nature through sight, hearing and smell.

The interior of the store features fluid air circulation and a color palette of warm and clear tones. This palette was used to unify the spaces with wood-clad ivory ceilings, floors and columns and fiberglass reinforced concrete. The product display tables are also made of wood and are complemented by colorful furniture throughout the store.

In addition to the central display aisles, the two-story store seamlessly connects two different types of experience areas. Signature Experience zones feature special exhibits and services, while five Full Consumer Experience zones enable interaction with Huawei products – from smartwatches to smart cars – and comprehensively demonstrate how connectivity can be seamlessly integrated into Artificial Intelligence. All aspects of their daily lives.

Multifunctional public space. The new flagship store in Shanghai is designed as a flexible, user-centric experience that offers Huawei customers an engaging all-round experience. This innovative technology enables the company to identify and test the current and future needs and habits of its customers and create its own in-store communities.

There are rooms for meetings, relaxation and socializing on two floors. The HUAWEI Community Area is open to all visitors and can be flexibly configured depending on the event. Here, visitors can attend Huawei public lectures, cultural events, and fitness and health classes.

There is a cafe in front of the conference and event hall where customers can relax while waiting for service. In addition, the "real" room offers space to work and relax.

The brand gallery and brand wall at the south entrance form an interface between brands and consumers. It commemorates the growing history and milestones of the Huawei brand and provides additional space for advancements.
