Poco X5 Pro Vs Redmi Note 12 Pro Vs Realme 10 Pro Plus: The Battle Of Midrange Smartphones

Poco has upped the ante by launching the Poco X5 Pro in India priced between Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000. The Snapdragon 778G-powered Poco X5 Pro (test) competes with the Redmi Note 12 Pro (test) and Realme 10 Pro Plus, both powered by the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC.

If you are looking for a mid-range smartphone under Rs 25,000 and are confused between the three devices, here is a detailed comparison of the three devices.

Poco X5 Pro vs Redmi Note 12 Pro vs Realme 10 Pro Plus: Design and Looks

The Realme 10 Pro Plus has a glossy plastic back and a glossy design language. It's one of the few mid-range phones with a 6.70-inch 120Hz curved AMOLED HDR10+ display. While some may not like the glossy back, this phone is very light, feels good in the hand, and looks and feels premium.

Like the Realme 10 Pro Plus, the Redmi Note 12 Pro has a rubberized back with a matte finish. Although the phone feels and looks premium, we found the plastic body to scratch easily in our review. Redmi has redesigned the camera island on the right side of the phone.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro features a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED HDR10+ display, protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and supports Dolby Vision, which is commonly found in high-end devices.

The Poco X5 Pro ditches the glass sandwich design of the Poco X4 Pro and instead has a plastic back with a matte finish, which may be a compromise for some. Compared to the Redmi Note 12 Pro, it has a flat design. The company has now replaced the camera island on the right side of the phone, similar to the Redmi Note 12 Pro. This phone features a 6.67-inch AMOLED HDR10+ 120Hz display that supports Dolby Vision and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

Poco X5 Pro vs Redmi Note 12 Pro vs Realme 10 Pro Plus: Performance

The Redmi Note 12 Pro and Realme 10 Pro Plus are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset, while the recently launched Poco X5 Pro comes with a slightly older Snapdragon 778G SoC.

Compared to the MediaTek Dimensity 1080, the Snapdragon 778G offers slightly better CPU performance, but when it comes to gaming, the Snapdragon 778G wins by a large margin. However, these three phones did not lag or hang while performing daily tasks. If you love competitive mobile gaming, the Poco X5 Pro is a winner.

While the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Realme 10 Pro Plus offer up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, the more expensive Poco X5 Pro variant is limited to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

The Realme 10 Pro Plus is the only phone with Android 13, while the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Poco X5 Pro come with MIUI 13 and MIUI 14 based on Android 12. All the phones have 5,000mAh batteries. Support for fast charging 67 W.

Poco X5 Pro vs Redmi Note 12 Pro vs Realme 10 Pro Plus: Cameras

Redmi Note 12 Pro got a 50MP primary camera with OIS support. On the other hand, the Realme 10 Pro Plus and Poco X5 Pro use a 108MP primary sensor, but without optical image stabilization. All three phones have an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, a 2-megapixel macro camera and a 16-megapixel selfie shooter capable of recording Full HD (1080p) video.

Poco has improved the camera and main sensor, it can now take great photos outdoors and in low light conditions. The sensor handles most colors well and the image doesn't look overly processed.

In terms of camera, the Realme 10 Pro Plus is one of the best camera phones in its price segment with a 108MP primary camera. The phone can take great photos on a sunny day and retains most of the details. Night photos are also good, the images are very detailed and the noise level is low. However, the ultra-wide sensor is average at best, but that's true of most phones under Rs 30,000.

Poco X5 Pro vs Redmi Note 12 Pro vs Realme 10 Pro Plus: Which phone is better?

While there's no definitive answer to what this phone offers to different users, the Realme 10 Pro Plus tops the list if you're looking for a phone with a beautiful, immersive, curved display and great cameras on all fronts.

If you are a gamer and looking for the cheapest phone, Poco X5 Pro is the right choice. The Snapdragon 778G chipset outperforms the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 on all fronts, especially GPU performance.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro sits somewhere between the two phones. Without the 108MP camera, it looks like the Poco X5 Pro. If you are looking for a mid-range device with a good camera and good performance, you can go for the Redmi Note 12 Pro.
