Tecno will launch its first 5G smartphone called Tecno Pova 5G in India on February 8th. This is the company's first 5G smartphone launched in India.
On the company's official Twitter account, they revealed that Tecno Pova 5G will be launched on February 8th. There is no launch date in the tweet.
The Tecno Pova 5G was launched in Nigeria at NGN 129,000 (roughly Rs. 23,000) for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant alone. The CEO of Transsion India, the parent company of Tecno India, has hinted at the price of Tecno Pova 5G by the end of 2021. According to the CEO, the smartphone will cost between 18,000 and 20,000 in the country.
The Tecno Pova 5G in Nigeria features a 6.95-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC paired with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB UFS 3.1 onboard storage.
Furthermore, Tecno highlighted that the Pova 5G will enter the Indian market with Memory Fusion technology, which is designed to increase the amount of RAM up to 11GB.
It's unclear at this point whether Tecno will offer more memory options in India or stick with 8GB of RAM with a 128GB storage configuration.
The Tecno Pova 5G smartphone features a triple rear camera setup that includes a 50MP primary camera, a 2MP secondary sensor, and an AI lens. Tecno Pova 5G also features a 16MP front camera with dual LED flash.
This smartphone is powered by a 6000mAh rechargeable battery with support for 18W fast charging. The device will come with HiOS 8.0 based on Android 11 and the fingerprint sensor will be integrated with the power button on the side.
The smartphone will be available in Polar Silver, Dazzle Black and Power Blue.
