OPPOOnePlus Europe Exit Drama Continues: More Mixed Messages From Company

Rumors surfaced yesterday that OPPO and OnePlus might exit major European markets. While OPPO insists its business remains "normal" in the UK and Europe, OnePlus' statement strongly denies any plans to leave the regions. Now, OPPO's third press release in Europe raises more doubts than it reveals what's really going on behind the scenes.

OPPO and OnePlus are targeting all available European markets. We've started 2023 well with several successful product launches in Europe, and we have a pipeline of future products for the rest of the year. As always, OPPO and OnePlus will provide users with more innovative products and best-in-class services in the future.

If you read between the lines, it seems that OPPO and OnePlus will remain in the current European market until at least the end of 2023. The companies say they have new products for the rest of the year, but they haven't specified if those products will be phones or new peripherals like wearables, headphones, and more. It is also confusing that OPPO and OnePlus did not mention their intention to be present in Europe after 2023.

At the same time, the companies also talked about their phones being banned in Germany due to the ongoing patent case in favor of Nokia. They issued a joint statement.

Currently, the ban is limited to the German market. OPPO is operating as usual in other European countries. We are committed to our existing markets and continue to actively work with Nokia to resolve the issue. Meanwhile, all users, including those in Germany, can continue to use their products and receive after-sales services, future OTAs, etc.

According to Roland Quandt, a famous leader and journalist at WinFuture , OPPO will close the German team at the end of June. This "does not necessarily mean that they will close their operations in the European Union, which are also based in Germany," Quandt said.
