UK Techno Pioneer Lee Purkis, Aka In Sync, Dies Aged 54

DJ Lee Purkis, better known as In Sync, has passed away at the age of 54.

Purkis is recognized as one of the UK's leading DJs promoting, promoting and playing house and techno music. Insync format has vs. Maestro founded the 10th Planet label in 1992 with Chris Hartley and David Manuel. They have provided support with these solo releases on labels such as Plink Plonk, Rubble, Peacefrog and One Way Static. More popular.

In the year In 1989, Purkis helped launch FatCat Records in his hometown of Crawley, East Sussex, which he discovered mainly during trips to Detroit and Chicago.

Kirk DeGiorgio, a close friend of Purkiss, told Resident Advisor that Purkiss was one of the "greatest music heads who ever went to Detroit to meet the first techno record makers."

“He came to my house in 1991 and showed me a tape of his poorly recorded but amazing Storm/Warm EP. Recorded with just two SH101s fed by a Roland TR909 and 808, this was my first. "ART label".

DJ Luke Slater tweeted: “Been a few years since I saw Lee. In Sync - Storm is truly a work of art and one of the strangest and most beautiful techno records I've ever heard. It solidified my techno and travel soul. Out of date! RIP Lee and thanks for the music. "7:00 am

German electronic duo Hardfor added: “I am saddened to learn of the death of Lee Purkis. I never met him in person but his music lifted him up and will live forever. I wish you a strong family, friends and relatives. Rest in peace dear."

FatCat co-founder Dave Cole said on Facebook: “FatCat would never have developed without Lee, who was instrumental in moving Crowley to London and developing our direction. He's got a unique look and sound for what we've created.
I personally learned a lot from the company and found it a complete inspiration.
