New music is coming from FKA Twigs and you will be happier than ever.
Twigs, 36, opened her Discord server on Tuesday, January 16, to celebrate her birthday and connect with her fans. During the conversation, he revealed that he's in the studio working with electronic musician (and frequent collaborator) Corless on his next album. Twigs has hinted that another "talented kid" will be a part of her next album, which is "coming out this year."
“I moved to Prague a few years ago and fell in love with techno,” he told NME. He added that his next album is "not techno, but real soul".
Twiggs also noted that the album's tone is lighter than his previous music. “It's profound, but it's not tragic,” he said. "I'm not sad anymore."
The album serves as a follow-up to 2022's Caprisongs. He said his previous releases were "very collaborative" and that his next project won't be as intense. “I don't like repeating myself,” he wrote.
When asked what music she's been listening to lately, Twigs said she's "busy finishing my album, so she's not listening to a lot right now." But he added: “I love two shells.”
Twigs' talk about her upcoming music comes after controversy over her advert for Calvin Klein in March 2023. The UK Advertising Standards Authority announced on January 10 that her advert had been banned because it depicted her as a "stereotypical sexual object" and he stated that the image was "likely to offend".
In one of the campaign's black-and-white photos, Twigs poses naked, but she's wearing a Calvin Klein t-shirt that covers most of her body. Twigs responded to the ban with an Instagram post, writing that she "doesn't look like the stereotypical sex object they've labeled me as."
