Realme has launched its next mid-range rivals in India – Realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+. After the departure of CEO Madhav Seth, the company has taken a step back in terms of phone launches. If you think the names sound familiar, then you're right as the Realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+ are direct competitors to the recently launched Redmi Note 13 Pro and 13 Pro+. Let's take a look at everything you need to know about Realme's latest releases.
Realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+: specifications and features
The Realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+ have the same 6.7-inch curved AMOLED display with Full HD+ 120Hz resolution. The panel also supports 360 Hz touch sample rate, 2160 Hz PWM dimming, 100% DCI-P3 color space and up to 950 nits brightness.
In terms of performance, the Realme 12 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chip, while the 12 Pro+ is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. The difference between the two is quite significant, with the latter reaching around 10-15%. . ...better than the sixth generation 1.
Both the Realme 12 Pto and 12 Pro+ come with a 5,000mAh battery that can be charged at 67W. The battery size remains unchanged from its predecessors, but for some reason , the charging speed of the Realme 11 Pro+ has been reduced by 100W .
Given the 4nm manufacturing process in the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 and Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, as well as increased efficiency, users should see a significant increase in battery life for both models. In case you don't know, the Realme 11 Pro and 11 Pro+ are powered by 6nm processors.
The cameras are the highlight of both devices, especially the Realme 12 Pro+. The Pro+ is equipped with Sony's flagship IMX890 sensor, while the standard Pro is equipped with an IMX882 sensor. Both cameras are 50 MP with wide angle . The Realme 12 Pro+'s secondary lens is a 64MP periscope telephoto lens, which is also found on the recently launched OnePlus 12.
The lens has 3x optical zoom, 6x built-in zoom and 120x digital zoom. Realme is also working with Qualcomm to improve the overall processing, which the company calls "RAW Domain Algorithm". As for the regular Pro, it comes with a 32-megapixel periscope telephoto lens and supports 2x optical zoom. The third camera is shared between the two: an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens.
Both devices come out of the box with Realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14 . At the presentation, Realme talked about a number of new features such as flash pod, a shared photo dock that can be used to share later, and the ability to take an object from a photo and copy it to the clipboard.
What the company didn't specify is how many updates the Series 12 will receive. It's safe to say that just like the Series 11, the Series 12 will receive three major updates to the Android operating system .
In terms of connectivity, the phones also have all the necessary 5G and 4G bands, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 and a USB 2.0 Type-C port on the bottom for charging.
