Realme GT5 Pro Review: A True Nextgen Smartphone

Realme GT5 Pro Review: A True Nextgen Smartphone

The Realme GT5 Pro is one of the best phones on paper, which means it excels in real-world situations.

In addition

  • Great design
  • good imagination
  • Universal camera
  • Great screen

minuses

  • The software is not the best

Realme has been making great phones at reasonable prices within its GT range, but its latest offering seems to be taking things to the next level. The new device offers a new design, impressive camera specifications and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.

Unfortunately, the Realme GT5 Pro won't be available in the US unless you find a way to import it. But that doesn't mean it won't affect the Chinese phone market and future phones that may eventually come to the US.

Is the Realme GT5 Pro really a next-gen flagship killer or a device that offers flagship specs at a much lower price?

Features of Realme GT5 Pro

Realme GT5 Pro Design

One of the most interesting features of the Realme GT5 Pro is its design. It's the latest in a line of phones to ditch the back panel from glass or plastic in favor of premium faux leather. The material is really nice to the touch. It is pleasant to the touch and durable, making it a material that can be used in more devices in the future.

The rest of the design is also very nice. The device has the same size camera module as some Oppo phones, including the OnePlus Open, but I don't mind that. Sure, it's bulky, but depending on the location, it might be a little easier to hold. Plus, if it produces stunning images, it's worth the trade-off.

On the front, the device has a slightly curved display. I prefer a flat screen, but the curve isn't very sharp and I don't think it makes much of a difference. At the top of the display is a small cutout for the camera module.

Everything else is expected in the design of the phone. At the bottom is a USB-C port, on the right are the volume rocker and the power button.

The phone comes in black and white, both look good, but I really like the orange color, which is the color of our review model.

Realme GT5 Pro's display is excellent. The screen size is 6.78 inches and is an LTPO AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. It is very soft and very shiny. It's high resolution, so text looks clear and images are very detailed. Overall, most users will like the look of this phone's display.

Performance of Realme GT5 Pro

The Realme GT5 Pro is one of the first devices to be powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, Qualcomm's latest and greatest smartphone processor.

The result? The phone is very fast. To be clear, in day-to-day use, you probably won't notice a difference between a phone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and a device with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Games may load a little faster and less often. stutters and freezes, but don't expect radical improvement. This additional functionality, of course, may not be as important now as it will be in the future, towards the end of its life.

The test results are excellent, as expected. Here are the results of our tests with this phone:

  • 3DMark Wild Life Extreme: 4861
  • ANTUTU: 1 942 508

The results are excellent, especially in terms of graphics performance, as demonstrated by the 3DMark Wilde Life Extreme test.

Realme GT5 Pro battery and charging

The Realme GT5 Pro packs a rather large 5,400 mAh battery and I found the device to offer excellent battery performance. The device will easily give you a full day of use, and many will find that it can give you a second day of use. The Realme GT5 Pro's battery life shouldn't be a problem for those who charge their phone regularly.

The charging function is also quite good. Unlike the Realme GT3 which supports 240W charging, the GT5 Pro can only be charged at 100W, which means you can charge the device in around 30 minutes. It also supports fast wireless charging; users will be able to charge wirelessly at 50W using a compatible wireless charger. We didn't have this charger so we couldn't test it.

Realme GT5 Pro camera

One of the most important aspects of this phone is the camera. The device is equipped with a triple camera, including a telephoto lens with a periscope. This camera can zoom up to 2.7x, but Realme uses touch cropping technology to zoom in further without losing detail.

In fact, I found the Realme GT5 Pro's camera to be capable of producing excellent images. Images were clear and colorful with good detail, but be sure to clean the camera module regularly. This is especially true in low light conditions. I found myself having to move the camera too far in very low light or at high zoom levels, but in most reasonable situations it worked great.

The telephoto lens stands out as a particularly useful feature. Even in low-light conditions, the telephoto lens was able to produce sharp and vivid images with little blur, thanks in large part to the built-in stabilization technology.

Realme GT5 Pro software

The current version of Realme GT5 Pro comes with Realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14. Unfortunately, our review model was not the global variant of the phone and therefore did not have Google Play Services installed.

Conclusion

Realme GT5 Pro has many advantages. I really like the overall design, the phone also has a great battery, fast charging and a great camera. It's not perfect - even with Google Play services, I generally don't like Realme's UI, and the camera isn't as tuned as a device like the OnePlus Open. But overall this is a versatile phone.
