Return Of Exynos: Samsung Puts Own Chip In Galaxy S24 In India, US Variant Gets Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series was recently launched in India. The company has released three models in its main series: Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra. And this year marks the return of Exynos processors to Samsung's flagship phones. This time, Samsung didn't offer Snapdragon chipset with all models and you get Exynos chipset with 2 models.

Samsung only uses the high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip in the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which is the most expensive of the three phones at Rs 1,29,999. The other two S24 phones, including the Rs 99,999 S24+, are powered by the 4nm Exynos 2400 SoC.

While the company offers Exynos chips in some of its budget phones, the Galaxy S series has been using them in India for a long time. The last Galaxy S series phone to use an Exynos chip was the Samsung Galaxy S21 smartphone, after which the brand offered a high-end Snapdragon chip in its flagship phones.

Interestingly, Samsung has chosen a different strategy in the US market. There the company has installed Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in all three Galaxy S24 series phones.

While we have yet to test the performance of the latest Exynos chip, a YouTuber named NL Tech shared a video comparing the performance of three Galaxy S24 phones. They used popular testing apps to see how the phones performed. In one test, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip had a slight edge in single-core and multi-core performance in the Geekbench 6 CPU test. But in the GPU test, where the YouTuber tested the graphics, the Exynos 2400 chip performed better .

Another test called AnTuTu showed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 outperformed the S24 Ultra, but the difference between the two chips was relatively small. YouTube also ran the 3D Mark Solar Bay stress test, which tests phones' ability to handle advanced graphics. The Exynos-based S24 and S24+ performed better in this test. The S24 Ultra performed slightly better in the Wild Life Extreme test, but the Exynos phones were more stable during the test.

It's important to note that these tests were performed on phones with an older version of the software, so the results may differ if people are using phones with the final software. You can follow all the updates on India Today Tech.
