  • Leaks suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra could get the ability to record 4K video at 120 frames per second.
  • The phone supports 4K 60fps infinite zoom, which shows the balance of the camera lens' video quality.

We're getting closer to the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, and new information about the devices continues to pour in. There's no doubt that these new devices will be contenders for the title of the best Android phones in 2024, and they're aiming for that position thanks to a host of new features that expand usability. New leaks suggest that the Galaxy S24 Ultra could push the boundaries of smartphone video recording with 4K video recording capabilities at 120fps, as well as smooth zooming and lens switching.

According to Ice Universe, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra may get the ability to record 4K video at 120 frames per second, although the publisher says that this feature is still in the experimental stage and there is no guarantee that it will appear in the final version.

Additionally, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is claimed to smoothly upscale 4K video at 60fps (but not 120fps).

This zoom can be done by switching between different lenses on the phone. In the past, phones couldn't do this because there's a big difference in signal output between the main camera and secondary cameras like ultra-wide and telephoto. Therefore, the Galaxy S24 Ultra needs comparable video output and easy and fast switching between the cameras to achieve smooth zooming while recording videos.

With 4K recording at 120 frames per second, users will be able to slow down videos to 30 frames per second to create a cinematic effect. The leader has published examples of the effect, although it should be noted that these examples do not refer to the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

What can 4K120fps? Watch this video and you will find out. You can run it at 30 frames per second and the image will be 4x slower for a cinematic feel. pic.twitter.com/pkRSCbBvxv

If you're expecting 4K video recording at 120fps from all sensors, you may have to wait a while. The smooth zoom feature is limited to 4K resolution at 60fps, which means other phone lenses can't shoot at higher frame rates. Only a few phones support 4K recording at 120fps, and even fewer that support all-lens recording. Even fewer companies outside of this subgroup offer good and profitable results.

Surprisingly, the leak does not mention these Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus features. Whether this is an oversight on the part of the author of the message or the phone simply lacks this feature is not yet known.

We can't wait to see what improvements Samsung makes to its image processing pipeline to realize these video capabilities.
